Blue Skies supports “READCAMP”
As part of efforts to improve on the literacy skills of young people in basic schools in Ghana, the Mother of All Nations Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization in partnership with Blue Skies Company Ltd have organized the third edition of the ReadCamp in the Madina Municipal Assembly.
Readcamp2017 which aims at boosting the performance of young people in Upper Primary and Junior High School (JHS) levels within the community, started on the 1st of August to the 17th. A closing ceremony was held on the 30th of August.
The camp gathered over 526 children from diverse backgrounds within the municipality. The major aim was to inculcate in the children the habit of reading for a lifelong learning. The participants were taken through various rudiments of skills in reading with special emphasis on critical reading and comprehension.
Partners of the event, Blue Skies Company Ltd, feted both the participants and volunteer mentors with their freshly sliced fruits and other products on daily basis throughout the duration of the project. According to the management of Blue Skies they consider their contribution corporate social responsibility towards the attainment of a better and discerning generation.
The PRO of the company, Mr Alistair Dlimatey, explained that the company has taken interest in building the minds of people especially children and that one sure way to achieve that is through knowledge acquisition and the consumption of good food. He advised the pupils to endeavor to take their studies seriously and use reading as the tool for academic excellence.
He further called on other stakeholders to join the ReadCamp project to also help in the crusade for reading and the development of the children at that level of the educational ladder.
The organizers of the ReadCamp Project have said it would be an annual event; promising to make the next event even bigger and better.
