Basic School Children Engaged by Professionals – ReadCamp 2022

The second edition of “Read with the Professionals”, an activity to finish the “ReadCamp 2022” project, was completed successfully on September 7th, 2022.

Professionals from various backgrounds and disciplines volunteered their time to read with multiple project beneficiaries across four regions – Greater Accra, Northern, Volta, and Ashanti. The activity was physical and virtual, so those who were close to the venues could meet with participants face to face while those who lived far away could opt for the virtual option.

A total of 50 professionals both locally and internationally, read the stories of beneficiaries related to career choice and discussed how these young learners can grow and become responsible leaders who will contribute to the socio-economic development of their communities, country, and the world at large.

The beneficiaries were told that the world is eager for their innovation and that they should not let anything stop them from making it a reality.

Samuel Ofori, a class 6 pupil from Pantang Village Presbyterian school, had an interest in painting and drawing but didn’t know if it could be turned into a career. Upon speaking to Miss Hannah Acquah, an artist, he realized that his interest could be grown into a career as a professional painter.

Hearing stories like this from beneficiaries is an indication that we have achieved our goal with this activity.
